How Can You Prevent Facial Skin Cancer?
The next logical question will be related to prevention of skin cancer affecting your face. Well, there are many ways to do, all of which involve little money, time and effort but plenty of common sense and discipline.
First, you should use a special sunscreen for the face. Take note that we are not talking about moisturizers, makeup and other cosmetics with sun protection factor in any number.
Instead, you should look for a standalone facial organic sunscreen with at least SPF20 on its label. You will also be told that the higher the SPF, the higher the protection against ultraviolet rays. This is an urban myth, if you still do not know by now.
In reality, you should choose the SPF based on your skin tone, the activity you will be engaging in under the sun and the amount of clothing you will be wearing. If you have fair skin, then a higher SPF is necessary. This is also true if you will be sweating or swimming as well as when your clothing does not have sun protection.
Plus, applying the sunscreen depends on its SPF number. If your sunscreen has SPF 20, then you will be protected against ultraviolet rays ( UV rays ) for 200 minutes. (SPF number multiplied by 10)
Second, you should wear accessories that shield your face from the sun. Think of sunglasses with both UVA and UVB protection as well as wide-brimmed hats.
If you can find a Sun Protection Umbrella that offers sun protection akin to UV-resistant clothes, then better for your fight against skin cancer on the face. Skin cancer on any part of the body can be prevented if only we know how. So, start educating yourself today.
How Can You Detect Facial Skin Cancer?
Since there are 3 types of skin cancer that can affect the face, you should look out for many symptoms. Keep in mind that some of these symptoms can be attributed to other conditions so it is important to consult a dermatologist if you see any changes in your facial skin.
Just to name a few of the visible signs of facial skin cancer, there are pearly or waxy bumps, flat lesions with crusted, scaly surfaces and firm, red nodules on the skin. However, for the deadliest skin cancer - malignant melanoma - the signs can include large brownish spots.
With prudent prevention measures and early detection, treatments for skin cancer on the face are more likely to succeed. And your body will thank you for it, too.
