Same Ol’ Kids Game

In recent weeks, I have been exposed to the countless games kids play amongst one another.
One in particular involves kids running from tree to tree, escaping the tags of the designated “it” person called
Freeze Tag.
I can remember when I was little playing Freeze tag in the streets near my house with all the kids in the neighborhood, many of them were young so it was easy for me to escape.
With the premise still the same, evading the tag, kids are now incorporating toys and different rules.
Some are frozen for 30 seconds and if no one rescues them, they are eliminated from the game.
Others are using footballs and baseballs to tag people “it,” a bit dangerous but they’re still doing it.
There is no shortage of innovative ways to play the game and I’m sure other methods will arise.
It is terrific to see kids being active rather than sitting in front of a computer or gaming system withering their life away and youthful exuberance.
My hope is that I continue to see the joy in games like kids do because what kind of world would we live in?
