Protection from the Sun with SPF Clothing

I came to know about spf clothing from my relative who purchased it from abroad.
When she came to India she came to stay at our place. We were planning to go for an outing when she wore the SPF dress and came to show it to me.
I liked the style and I commented her that it looked great on her. She was happy to hear the comment and thanked me for it and said that it was no ordinary dress but an SPF protective one.
I was totally confused and thought what difference it would make.
She then explained to me that its material is very different from the regular fabric and it has special sun protective shield and prevents harmful UV rays hence protecting the skin.
She offered me to wear one of her dresses, so I could see the difference.
I wore her dress and then we went shopping that afternoon when it was extremely hot.
Wearing the dress I felt very comfortable and the heat was not very intense as compared to wearing ordinary dresses.
My skin felt cool too, which is a rarity in that heat!
