Patio Umbrellas During Monsoon Season

by Victoria

In sunny states such as Arizona and California, especially in nice areas it is common for home owners to have patio umbrellas.

They are great for sitting pool side or for sitting on the patio reading when it is too sunny to sit in the sun.

However, during monsoon season it is essential to disassemble your Patio umbrella.

They are collapsible but during a storm when the winds pick up, collapsing the umbrella is not enough. It can still catch wind and be dangerous.

A perfect example is a few years ago during monsoon season there was a big storm and my neighbor thought their patio umbrella would be okay if they collapsed it and tied it up.

However, when the wind picked up, it pulled the umbrella (which was sitting through the middle of the patio table) down and the entire glass table went with it, shattering all over their deck.

Moral of the story, patio umbrellas are great but take them out of the table when there is going to be a storm.
