My Panama City Sunburn

When I was eleven years old my best friend and her family asked me to go to Panama City Beach with them that summer.
It was my first real vacation and would have been nothing but fun except I got the worst
sunburn of my life.
I was miserable for my last two days in Florida. When I got home my mom broke out the home remedies to help with the second degree burns I suffered on my back, shoulders and chest.
She rubbed Aloe Vera gel on me about five times a day until sundown.
When it got dark the only thing that would help the pain was to rub white vinegar over the burns.
The vinegar took the heat out and made it bearable.
I would sleep in my fathers plain white t-shirts and slept on the couch drinking gallons of water a day trying to keep from getting dehydrated.
After about six or seven days the burn began to peel and didn’t hurt so bad anymore.
