Macular Degeneration Can Lead to Complete Blindness

Macular Degeneration that is age related usually affects people after the age of 55 and many people have gone blind due to this.

In fact the central part of the retina gets degenerated and ultimately leads to loss of vision.

Scientists have no proof as to what causes this disease but it is believed that age, genetics, lack of nutrition and exposure to sun might be some of the reasons behind it.

There was no such symptom seen in my uncle but when he went to his eye specialist for regular check up, the doctor detected signs of Macular Degeneration in him.

I felt very sorry for my uncle because the doctor said that there was no such treatment or remedy for this disease but advised him to have nutritious diet rich in vitamin C, vitamin E, Zinc and beta-carotene.

He also recommended some dietary supplement and asked him to visit for check ups regularly.

In fact in some cases laser treatment has been helpful but it was not suitable for my uncle because of his age, which is 72.

But he is doing well and feels good these days after improving upon his diet.
